Elizabeth Smith Applegate, age 96, died on Sunday, March 4, 2012. Elizabeth was born on December 10, 1915 in Hudson, Ohio where she lived most of her life. She was the eighth generation of her family to reside in Hudson. Elizabeth graduated from Kent State University as an education major. After college, she taught in Allen Center, Ohio where she met her husband, Clark Wesley Applegate. When they married, they returned to Hudson. Elizabeth also taught in Streetsboro and Hudson. Clark and Elizabeth moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1981 where she was a very active member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She was devoted to her family and friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Elizabeth Jane Applegate and her husband of 59 years, Clark Wesley Applegate. She is survived by her son, Clark Leonard Applegate of West Chester, Ohio; her daughter, Judith Applegate Moore and her husband, Gregory Alan Moore of Bridgeville, Delaware; grandchildren, Patrick Joseph Applegate, Clare Marie Applegate, Sarah Moore Johnson and her husband, Jay Edwin Johnson, Laura Moore Gallagher and her husband, David Paul Gallagher, Jr., and great grandchildren, Luke Wendall Johnson and Lauren Elizabeth Johnson. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2220 Second Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 at 3pm.
