Gladys M. Winn

September 8, 1920 — October 23, 2013

Gladys Marian Winn (nee Johnson) passed from this world on October 23, 2013, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and generosity for the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that survive her. Born on September 8, 1920, Gladys was the daughter of Robert and Ada (Weigel) Johnson and the twin sister of Glen Johnson. A native of Groesbeck in Cincinnati Ohio, and a graduate of Colerain High School (c/o 1938) she was a member of White Oak Christian Church, where she was baptized in September 1934, and where she met her future husband, Emmett A. Winn. Emmett and Gladys were married on June 24, 1944, and together were blessed with seven children (Jay Aaron, Marla Kay, Lois Marian, Nola Deane, Emmett Kent, Willard Mark, and Lyle Robert). Emmett and Gladys served in ministry to the First Church of Christ, in Elkins, WV, from 1944 until August of 1960, upon Emmett's untimely death. Despite her own grief at the loss of her partner, she harnessed an inner strength to keep her family together and with a spirit of perseverance and calm, raised seven children in the rural West Virginia town. She remained in her Elkins home until the age of 82, at which time she returned to Cincinnati Ohio. Her faith in Christ was quiet yet resilient, and her kindness and gentle nature endeared her to many. Celebration of her life will be held Nov. 2, 2013 at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until Services at 12:00 p.m. and burial immediately following at Arlington Memorial Garden. To send a condolence, visit www.MuellerfuneralS.com 513-398-9100
