Tula Gounaris (nee Georgas), age 79, Tula's kind and loving soul departed this earth on October 15, 2012. Tula was the beloved wife of Deeno for over 55 years. She is survived by Deeno and their children Perry (Linda), Stacy, and Leah (Jim), and grandchildren Ayla, Enya, Romie and Carson. She is also survived by her mother Julia, sister Violette (Barry), and brothers Steve (Cookie) and John (Joan), and loving niece Debbie (Tom). She was the best mom ever, a great jitterbug partner, a dear friend, an amazing cook, and the reigning Queen of Accessories. Tula was a devoted member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church as well as a longtime member of its choir and the GAPA Women. She will be remembered as a super fun Yiayia who was game for anything her grandchildren desired. Tula was a twinkling light in the lives of all who knew her. We will all miss her sense of humor and the ease with which she laughed. No holiday will ever be the same without her and her Greek pastries. Tula may have been small in stature but she had the heart and soul of a true Spartan Warrior. She fought a long hard battle and showed everyone around her the true meaning of the word strength. We love you, Mom, and we will miss you desperately but we are grateful for the lifetime of joyful memories you have left behind. If desired, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Dayton, Ohio or to Hospice of Dayton. Visitation to be held on Friday, October 19 from 4 to 7 pm at Marker & Heller Funeral Home, 1706 North Main Street, Dayton, OH, 45405 with Trisagion Prayers at 5:30 pm, and visitation 9 to 10 am on Saturday at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH, 45405.
