Albert Philip Koehler, of Mason, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the age of 100. After recovering from pneumonia, he died peacefully back at Mason Christian Village.
Al was born in California, Ohio on the family farm overlooking the Ohio River, on May 6, 1922, to parents Carrie and Edward Koehler, Sr. One of eight children and twin to sister Gert, Al attended Cincinnati's Mechanical High School. He was a tank driver in WWII, from 1943 - 1946, and was in the Battle of the Bulge when his tank was hit earning him the Purple Heart.
At the end of the war, Al returned to Cincinnati, and married his first wife, Elizabeth (nee Meidel) Koehler, and had two sons. They were married 43 yrs. His sons are Jim (and wife Nancy) and Joe. He married Lois Winston 28 yrs. ago and they settled in Mason. Her five daughters are, Ann, Sally, Cathy, Melissa, and Mary Sue, along with nine grandchildren, and several great.
Besides being a beloved husband and father, he had a very successful career, first as a watchmaker, then as a machinist and finally as an equipment developer at Senco. He has several patents in the construction fastener and medical tool industry. He loved playing the piano by ear, ice skating, and camping and traveling across the country. He was always inventing and designed and built several windmills throughout his eighties
A Mass of Christian Burial for Al is planned for Monday, December 12, 2022, at 11:00 am in The Stone Worship Center at Mason Christian Village, 411 Western Row Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Inurnment will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
