Alice D. Lamping

January 26, 1928 — June 28, 2021

Alice D. Lamping (nee Bone), 93, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, in Mason, OH. She was born in Nashport, Ohio to Leslie and Juanita Bone.

Alice loved her family, her husband, her vocation, and entertaining. She was an incredible mother with utmost humility, always placing others ahead of herself.  As a devoted Girl Scout leader, she played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of many young ladies.

She was the beloved wife for 57 years of the late Stanley G. Lamping, Jr. and the devoted mother of Nancy Knapp, Michael Lamping (Carol), Beth Kirby (Scott), Greg Lamping (Barb) and Jennifer Jones, sister of the late Evelyn Bennett, Margaret Lehr and Doug Bone, grandmother of 15, great grandmother of 8, dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.

A devout Catholic, her faith and love of God carried her throughout her life, but especially during these last few years when she was faced with many health challenges.

Alice was dedicated to her career in nursing. She was a graduate of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing and maintained lifelong friendships with the Class of 1949. This included hosting yearly class reunions to renew acquaintances, visits to facilities where she once trained and worked, and always gathering new ideas to help and serve.

She began her nursing career as an operating nurse at the old General Hospital, ventured out to Fisher Body as an occupational nurse and served several stints as a private duty night nurse, all while raising her family of five.

Along the way, she developed a passion for geriatrics. So much so, that she returned to Thomas More University to get an additional degree.  This led to her becoming the executive director of Sem Haven Retirement Community, a role she served and cherished for over 20 years until her retirement.

Alice loved throwing a good party.  It could be a simple cookout, birthday party for one of her grandkids, or a themed Hawaiian luau complete with dancers. Hosting Thanksgiving was always a special day to get everyone together and celebrate.  She had a passion for music and found great pleasure in listening to her “player piano”, gladly welcoming any time she could entertain her family and friends.

When one looks back on her life, they will see that she cared about others until the very end, made lasting impressions, and touched the lives and hearts of many along the way.  She will be deeply missed.
