Angela G. Korpi

November 8, 1947 — August 19, 2024

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Angela Gayle Korpi, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, cherished sister, aunt and dear friend to many. Angela departed this world on August 19, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, after a valiant fight with cancer.

Angela was born on November 8, 1947, to the late Howard and Giannina Lounsburry (nee Castelli) of Benton Harbor, Michigan.  She grew up in Benton Harbor and graduated from Saint John’s Catholic High School, class of 1967.  She worked for Whirlpool for 32 years. While car shopping, she met and later married the love of her life Kenneth Korpi.  In 2015, she moved to Franklin, Ohio to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons.

Angela, who fostered a love for knitting, crocheting, sewing and embroidery for a lifetime. It was a running joke that she had a sewing/embroidery room that rivaled craft stores in her home.  It was a place she found peace and enjoyment. She enjoyed making baby hats for local hospitals and earned countless volunteer hours and awards. She made Christmas stockings year-round. She taught sewing classes and made gifts for friends and loved ones.  An act of love with her hands.

Behind her professional achievements, Angela’s greatest source of pride and joy was her role as a loving wife to Kenneth, a devoted mother to her daughter Stephanie Watkins (Jason), grandmother to Austin, Preston and Adrian Watkins, a supportive sister to Patricia Mills (Ted), Chris Lintern (Butch), Sharon VanDam (Jake) and the late Linda McKamey and aunt.

Family meant everything to Angela, and she shared a special bond with her sisters, Patricia, Sharon, Chris and Linda due to the unexpected passing of her father Howard Lounsburry at the age of 12.  Being the oldest she took on a lot of responsibility to help raise her sisters that created a foundation of love and support that defined their relationships.  Angela brought love, warmth and compassion to the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.  Her smile and caring heart left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.  She always put others needs before her own.

In addition to her immediate family and siblings, Angela is survived by numerous friends and neighbors, all of whom will deeply miss her presence, wisdom, and love.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Trihealth Cancer Institute, Bethesda North Intensive Care Unit and Hospice of Butler and Warren County for all the compassionate care they provided to Angela and her family.

The family will greet friends from 11am August 23, 2024, at Mueller and Hick’s Funeral Home, Middletown, OH, 45005 with a funeral service to celebrate Angela’s life to be held following at 12pm.  Burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Pink Ribbon Girls (Cincinnati region) a cause that reflects Angela’s caring spirit.

May Angela Korpi rest in eternal peace, her love and legacy living on in the hearts of her beloved family, siblings, nieces and nephews and all those whose lives she touched.
