Arthur Harvey Jr

November 25, 1933 — April 14, 2024

Arthur Edward Harvey Jr. (“Bud”) passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 14, 2024, at the age of 90, with his wife, Mary, by his side.

Bud was born on November 25, 1933 in Cincinnati to parents Florence Harvey (nee Erd) and Arthur Edward Harvey Sr.  He was preceded in death by his only sibling, Rosemary Ella Smith, in 2010.  After serving in the Army, Bud chose to follow in his Grandfather Erd’s footsteps to become an accomplished bricklayer.  He was a longstanding member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #18 and worked for Brickcast for a majority of his career.  Bud worked on numerous masonry projects and additions at many iconic Cincinnati landmarks, including the Aronoff Center for the Arts, The University of Cincinnati Langsam Library, the Cincinnati VA Medical Center, The Christ Hospital, and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Bud was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in both Texas and Germany.  He was a member of the 3rd Armored Division and was trained as an armored crewman for tank operations.  Bud was awarded the most skilled tank gunner in his entire division.

Bud married the love of his life Mary Elizabeth Harvey in December of 1956 and was a devoted husband for over 67 years.  He was a loving father to Terri (Jim) Seminara and Jill (Steve) Murphy, and loving grandfather to his four grandchildren, Rachel (Michael) Seminara-Tauchar, Audrey Seminara, Austin Murphy and Jake Murphy.  He attended and supported his grandchildren’s many activities and celebrations through the years, including dance recitals, music recitals, Cincinnati Ballet Nutcracker performances, swim meets, fishing tournaments, basketball games and football games.  He had the unique ability to turn each family occasion into a celebration of life by initiating dance moves with Mary and each of his grandchildren.  He often gathered family together for a commemorative toast to honor loved ones and special occasions.  His playful and fun-spirited humor will be remembered by all who loved him.

Bud was a strong believer in God and shared his faith by devoting prayer time to each of his loved ones.  When parting family, he would often say, “Keep God in your life”.
