Betty Jane Dailey

August 31, 1943 — July 20, 2023

Betty Jane Dailey, 79, of Mason, passed away on Thursday, July 20th, 2023.  The only girl of three children, she was born on August 31st, 1943 to Paul Robert and Albertha Ileen ((Myers) McMillian in Hamilton, Ohio.

Betty was a hard worker from the start, graduating high school and completing business/secretarial school with an associates degree.  Throughout her career she lent her skills to law offices, accounting & tax offices, and churches, helping keep their operations running.  She worked full time until she met her husband Jim and in the early part of their marriage, but when their two children came along, Betty went to part-time so that she could trade off with Jim to spend time at home with the kids.  This was just one example of their amazing partnership, and their devotion to each other and their children.  As her family grew and grandchildren arrived, Betty became their number one fan--there was never an event, game, match, or ceremony that she missed.  She loved spending time with family and friends.

Betty was always keeping busy and doing something, and she is remembered as being busy until the moment she fell asleep every night.  Other than the full days she spent working and spending time with family, she loved silk flower arranging, even creating pieces for her daughter's wedding.  Betty was also passionate about fashion, always matching and coordinating her jewelry and outfits.  She combined fashion with thriftiness and loved to browse consignment shops, always on the lookout for her favorite brand, Chico's.

Betty was a kind and caring person, and was always looking for opportunities to help others.  In her later years, she spent time volunteering and helping her friends and neighbors.  She was also a faithful Christian woman, and she served in many ways in the churches she attended over the years. Betty was a hard working woman who was full of love, devotion, and charity, and she will be greatly missed.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Albertha McMillian; and her brothers Russell McMillian (Ginny) and Roger McMillian.

Betty is survived by her husband, James Dailey; her children Daniel Dailey (Kim) and Melanie Kerry (David); her grandchildren Sami Dailey (Kyle), Danielle Dailey, Randi Fey (Danny), Frankie Dunham (Justin), Cade Kerry (John), Alison Goetz (Kyle), and Nicholas Kerry; and beloved family members Lynda Pennington and niece Melissa Baker.
