Betty Ann Tippin

July 6, 1941 — October 20, 2021

Betty Ann Tippin (nee Strauch), 80 of Mason, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, born to Russell H. and Charlene (nee Taylor) Strauch on July 6, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio.

Betty was the only child of Russell and Charlene. She grew up in Toledo and graduated from Sylvania Burnham High School. At the age of 17 she married the love of her life, James.

Betty’s father, Russell, founded Russ’ Car Wash in 1948. Betty and Jim carried on the legacy of Russ’ and added several locations of Tip Top Car Wash throughout the Toledo area. For many years, Betty was the bookkeeper for the car washes. She was a numbers person and had an eye for detail.

Betty and James went on to live a wonderful life together for almost 63 years. They enjoyed traveling to Northern Michigan, Florida, Alaska and all over the west and eventually made their home in Nevada before deciding to move back to Ohio to be close to family. Betty and James were in the harness horse racing business for nearly 20 years, and out of all of the horses they owned, her two favorites were Square Louie and Keep The Action.

Betty was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Betty had a servant’s heart. She was kind, thoughtful, compassionate, and loved a great debate.

An avid reader and a master of Sudoku puzzles, Betty was also a fantastic cook and at family gatherings, she brought the desserts, which included her incredible Lemon Meringue and Banana Cream pie.

Betty’s faith in Jesus was her greatest passion and she lived out her faith in all she did. Betty retired from Best-Walker Insurance Group in January of 2021.

Betty will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceded in death by her parents, Russell Strauch and Charlene Strauch Bracy, and her son, Douglas James who passed away at 18 years old in 1987.

Betty is survived by her loving husband James, loving daughter Pamela (Steve), and three grandsons, Clayton, Cameron, and Cooper.
