Betzaida Filomena Johnston, affectionately known as "Filita", born on May 3, 1949, in Honduras, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, in Middletown, Ohio, after a valiant battle with colon cancer. Her life was a vibrant tapestry woven from love, and an unyielding spirit that resonated with all who had the privilege to know her.

A dedicated property manager, Filita excelled in her career, gracefully overseeing 100 units at Mary Star of the Sea Senior Apartments in Brooklyn, NY, for many years. Her professional endeavors were complemented by a personality that radiated warmth; she had a smile that could light up the darkest of rooms, leaving a lasting mark on everyone she encountered.

Music played a vital role in Betzaida's life, serving as a soundtrack to her joyful moments. Whether she was enjoying a quiet evening or hosting a family gathering, her passion for tunes was apparent. When space allowed, one could often find her dancing along to the beat, embodying the freedom and spirit that music inspired in her. Her love for life extended to her hobbies, where she found solace in gardening, nurturing vivid blooms that mirrored her vibrant personality. An avid reader and a lover of walks, Betzaida found joy in the simple pleasures that life offered.

Active in her community, she was a beloved member and volunteer at Towne Church, where she cherished her small group. Her deep faith shone brightly through her actions as she sought balance in her life by reading her Bible every night, striving to live according to God’s will—a testament to her character and the values she espoused.

Filita's greatest pride came from her family, whom she cherished with all her heart. She leaves behind her loving daughters, Juanita (Pat) Kreke and Heather (Rob) Hicks; her devoted son, Christopher Bolivar; and her grandchildren, Joe (Sarah) Kreke, Rob (Jennifer) Kreke, Jaden Hicks, Landon Hicks, Gabe Hicks, and Andrew Hicks, along with her cherished great-grandchildren, Cooper Kreke, Emerson Kreke, Hudson Kreke, Harlow Kreke, and Brixley Kreke. She also leaves her dear siblings, Letty Alvarado and Raul Alvarado, and cherished nieces, Genevieve Walshe and Siobhan Walshe, who will forever carry her legacy in their hearts.

Filita is reunited in spirit with those who have gone before her, including her beloved father, Jose Santos Berrios, and her mother, Juana Maria Mejia, both of whom shaped the values and love that defined her life.
