Blanche (nee Radford) Horton, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the age of 90. She was born Saturday, May 11, 1929 in Murphy, North Carolina to Garland and Bessie (nee Woody) Radford.
Altruistic in nature, Blanche was always looking out for the well-being of others, putting their needs before her own. Her soft nature and creativity were certainly reasons children were drawn to her. In fact, Blanche was affectionately known as "Granny" to everyone, whether family or not. She had a tender heart for animals and was especially fond of her black lab, Star, and grand-puppy, Rylee. The family often joked that the fur-babies in Blanche's life were her favorite. Blanche appreciated nature and found pleasure in keeping her feeders full for the birds and squirrels.
Although her body was frail, her mental capacity was sharp as a tack. Most people were shocked to discover she kept up with family and friends through the use of her computer and Facebook. Church was important to Blanche and she stayed active with West Chester Old Regular Baptist even though she was not able to physically attend services.
Blanche will forever be remembered by those that knew and loved her.
Blanche was preceded in death by: parents, Garland and Bessie Radford; her husband of 62 years, Eastley Horton, and her siblings Glen Radford, Gay Radford, Ralph Radford, Glaydis Taylor, and Madge Phillips.
Blanche is survived by: sons, James R. (Debbie) Horton and Thomas E. (Pam) Horton; grandchildren, Michelle Filipkowski, Brandy Reardon, Robert Brian Horton, and Kari (JR) Frank; great-grandchildren, Emma & Chloe Filipkowski, Carter & Jackson Frank, Julia & Jack Reardon, and Victoria & Thomas Horton; sisters, Grace Phelps, Ruby Radford, and Phyllis Radford; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
