In Loving Memory of Bodie Walker Schenkel

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved infant son, Bodie Walker Schenkel, who was born into this world on April 2, 2025, at 10:52 AM. Bodie was a precious gift who weighed 6.5 pounds and measured 19.5 inches long. Though his time with us was brief, his impact on our lives will forever be felt.

Bodie is survived by his loving parents, Dylan Schenkel and Meghan Baudendistel, and his doting siblings, Zayden and Raelynn. He is also dearly loved by his grandparents: Donita and Gary Ross, Chris and Jody Schenkel, Kim Baudendistel and Todd Baudendistel. Bodie’s extended family includes his aunts and uncles: Dustin (Jordann) Wesley, Brendan Ross, Evan Schenkel, Justin Baudendistel, and Lauren Baudendistel. Loving great-grandparents, Garry and Marcy Wesley, Shirley Schweitzer, and James Baudendistel, also cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Jack and Sylvia Schenkel, Bill Schweitzer, and Judy Baudendistel.

Bodie was blessed with cousins, including Knox and Lane Wesley, Weston Schenkel, and Mia and Charleigh Baudendistel, who loved him and were looking forward to countless play dates and sleepovers.

Bodie was beyond blessed to be surrounded by so many friends that are family that have prayed for him and will continue to support his parents as they navigate and mourn the loss of their beautiful baby boy.

Though Bodie's time with us was far too short, he will always be remembered as a sweet, innocent soul who touched the hearts of all who knew him. As we say goodbye, we know that Bodie is now our little angel, watching over us from above. His spirit will forever be with us, surrounding us with love, peace, and comfort.

Bodie may have left this world, but he will never leave our hearts. We will carry him with us always, and in the quiet moments, when we look up at the sky or feel the warmth of the sun, we can rest in the certainty that he is watching over us, guiding us, and loving us from a place of peace. Though he is gone from our arms, he will forever remain in our hearts. He was too perfect for this world.

A celebration of Bodie’s life will be held at Mueller Funeral Home in Mason on Wednesday, April 9th from 5:30-6:30pm with a short service at 6:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the Bodie Walker Schenkel Memorial Fund “Bodie’s Buddies” to purchase a Caring Cradle (Venmo: @Donita-Ross-1). Caring Cradles are beautiful medical grade cooling bassinets that provide families extended time with their babies before having to say goodbye. Being provided with a Caring Cradle allowed our family to spend 5 days with our sweet boy. We created memories and loved on him, which would not have been possible without it. These are moments our family will be forever grateful for. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase and donate at least one Caring Cradle in Bodie’s memory to a local hospital. We are also working on a memorial fund to continue to donate and support grieving families.

We will carry Bodie in our hearts forever, until the day we meet again.
