The Angelic Choir sings a bit brighter and a few decibels louder as our beloved Bonnie Sue Ferrone peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021, at the age of 83.
Born in Castalia, Ohio, during the height of the great depression and the youngest of six children, no one could have predicted that this little farm girl would enrich so many people's lives. Yet, from an early age, Bonnie understood that true wealth comes not from material things but through loving others, turning all times into good times, and laughing until you cry.
Bonnie truly loved life. She sang often and aloud with a beautiful voice that she refused to pass down to her children. She loved to cook and entertain. Mama Ferrone's spaghetti with meatballs and eggplant parmesan were famous, and the Ferrone home was always the place where everyone was welcome, and no one left hungry.
But at her core, there was nothing more important and more sacred to Bonnie than her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandma - patient, kind, loving, caring, and supportive. To Bonnie, family was family, whether by blood or marriage, near or far, of her generation or another; all were loved and important parts of her life. Of course, her children were the biggest benefactors, spoiled by Bonnie's affection and blessed with a lifelong relationship with her as both parent and friend. But, maybe most of all, Bonnie loved being the wife and soul mate to Jack Ferrone, her husband of 64 years. Together they created a rich and adventurous life, whether it was traveling the world, parasailing on their 60th wedding anniversary, or spending summers at Catawba Point with their lake family. She will be greatly missed and warmly remembered. The next time you look at the moon, blow Bonnie a kiss; she loved the moon and will be forever shining down upon us.
Bonnie was preceded in death by parents, Erasmus and Helen Graves; an infant son she lovingly called her Guardian Angel Nicky; and sisters, Ruth Schlett, Eileen Starrett, and Lois Barnhill.
Bonnie is survived by: the love of her life Jack Ferrone; children, Rick (Linda) Ferrone, Tony (Elaine) Ferrone, and Gina Ferrone Brown; grandchildren, Carmen Ferrone, Alessa Ferrone, Sofia Ferrone, Nick Ferrone, Dominic Brown, and Jacquelyn Brown; sister, Shirley Leedy; brother, Franklin Graves; and many loving family members, numerous nieces and nephews she loved like her own, and friends.
