Bonnie Jean Reeves

July 25, 1935 — August 28, 2024

Bonnie Jean Reeves passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan on Thursday July 25, 1935, to Randall and Irene (nee Cushway) DeLaVergne.

Bonnie was an accountant in her younger years. She then followed her passion and became a children’s choir director.  She continued on to become a bell choir director and started bell choirs at three different churches over her 35 years.

Bonnie was an active member of Northern Hill’s United Methodist Church in Finneytown, Ohio for over 37 years.  In 2002, she became an active member of Heritage Presbyterian Church (HPC) in Mason, Ohio.   Bonnie loved volunteering for all types of church and community events.

Bonnie loved to bake from scratch, and everyone enjoyed her chocolate chip cookies, pies, and brownies.  She was an avid Bridge player, euchre (never pass Bonnie) player, piano player, and a wonderful seamstress.  She often made and donated quilts to Children’s Hospital.  Her favorite bird was the red cardinal as seen all over her house.   Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family, beginning the yearly tradition of family vacations.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her son Michael Reeves, sister Carol Svetic and parents. She is survived by her husband Allan Reeves of 70 years. How many people can say that?  Children:  Thomas (Cindy) Reeves, Marianne (Doug) Poffenberger, and daughter in law Robin (Gary) Reeves- Bierl. Grandchildren: Callie, Jaime (Phil), Kevin (Rachel) Ian, Audrey (Stefan) and Grant. Great-grandchildren: Riley, Brinlee, Ruby, Silas and Karrie. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Hogan and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place for Bonnie on Saturday September 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 6546 Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason OH 45040.  The service can be viewed online on the Heritage Presbyterian Church Website during and after the service.  Lunch will be offered after the service.
