Bradford Scott

January 2, 1947 — October 16, 2024

Mason

Brad Scott passed away on October 16, 2024, at age 77 in Loveland, Ohio. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the first child of Kenneth Wylie Scott and Margaret Shackleton Scott. The family also lived in Nashville, Tennessee and Indianapolis, Indiana before settling in Washington, Indiana, where Brad graduated from Washington High School in 1965. He graduated from Butler University in Radio and Television in 1969. In 1970, he married Susan Elizabeth Green Scott, who predeceased him.

Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969, Brad served in the Signal Corps, using his radio and TV background with Armed Forces Network Europe in Germany, first in radio in Frankfurt until 1973 and then in television in Berlin until 1978. Returning to the States after his discharge, Brad was hired by WCET, Cincinnati Educational Television, where he worked for 25 years, retiring in 2003 as master engineer.

With a background in music from his early years, Brad’s interest in barbershop singing began during his Army days in Germany. After settling in Cincinnati, he quickly found a chorus home, first with Sons of Dixie and in 1986 with the Delta Kings. In addition to singing, Brad participated in and helped produce the chorus’ many shows, operated the sound system for his chorus and others, managed Harmony Lodge, and led quartets, principally Harmony Street.

Brad was preceded in death by his wife and his parents and is survived by his brother Russell K. Scott of Belleville, IL; his sister Carolyn Scott and husband John Whisler of Raleigh, NC and two nieces, Ellen Whisler and Sally Whisler Nourani. Brad and Susie’s large family of cats provided great companionship and entertainment over the years.

A memorial service will be held at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road in Mason on Thursday, November 7 at 11:00 AM, with visitation before for one hour. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Harmony Foundation International, P.O. Box 24030, Nashville, TN 37202 (https://www.harmonyfoundation.org/memorial-giving).

Brad’s family expresses deep appreciation to the many chorus and quartet friends who became like family and to the staff at Artis Senior Living of Mason and Traditions of Deerfield for their loving care.
