Caroline Buckey Livestream Service
Caroline Buckey (nee Cooper), 94 of West Chester, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2023. Born to George L. and Muriel A. (nee Deane) Cooper on March 17, 1929, in Rochester, New York.
Caroline was a 1951 graduate of Cornell University where she was an active member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She remained lifelong friends with her sisters from the sorority and remained in contact in person, by sending a card or a letter, or by phone in a conference call.
Caroline was gifted in handwork. Item creations included quilts, afgans, baby blankets, sweaters, hats, mittens, potholders, and embroidered chair covers. When she was blessed with granddaughters, she began a tradition of making beautiful Easter dresses.
In addition to handwork, Caroline enjoyed gardening and cooking. Her favorite crop to raise was red raspberries, and she grew a variety that produced fruit both in spring and the fall. Many berries to eat, to make freezer jam, to make a red raspberry pie, or to give a basket to friends. Roses and tomatoes were tied for a close second place behind red raspberries. An honorable mention goes to the vast flower gardens.
Caroline and her husband David loved to play cards with family and friends. When she and David hosted an evening of bridge with their friend’s dessert was always included.
Caroline had a passion for traveling. As a family they went all over the United States. With her husband and her church family they traveled to the Holy Land, England, and Scotland to name a few. She loved cruising all over Europe and trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and Australia.
Caroline was a kind person, a good neighbor who was willing to lend a hand or share a plate of cookies, a cinnamon pecan sweet roll, or some homemade fudge. She kept lifelong friendships everywhere she moved to, she was honest, genuine, and thoughtful. Caroline had a true servant’s heart.
Preceded in death by her parents, George and Muriel Cooper and her husband of 68 years, David Alden Buckey.
Caroline is survived by her two loving sons, David E. (Jean) Buckey and Alan H. (Karen) Buckey, seven grandchildren, David (Amanda) Buckey, Dan Buckey, Caroline (Marshall) Polaris, James Buckey, Mitchell Buckey, Grace Buckey and Kris Buckey, and two great grandchildren, Shelby Buckey and Elliott Polaris, and brother George A.
