Charles Buckley Wise

Charles Buckley (Chuck) Wise, 85, of Madeira, Ohio passed away on July 29, 2023. He was born to Dr. Charles Lowell and Mary (Fessler) Wise on March 24, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

After 4 years of proudly serving in the United States Air Force, Chuck graduated from Purdue University and went on to spend 38 years as a Purdue employee.  His last 20 years at Purdue, Chuck served as the Vice President of Development. He was especially proud of the Vision 21 fundraising campaign where he met lifelong friends around the world.

Chuck spent his years in West Lafayette serving the community and volunteering in many ways. He was a proud Boilermaker and loved to cheer them on throughout his life.

After retirement, Chuck moved to Mason, OH where he made a whole new community of friends through welcoming members at the Mason Community Center, volunteering at Crossroads Church Mason, Crayons to Computers and HPCUMC Stephen Ministry.  He enjoyed his time in Ohio where he traveled, golfed, and took many adventures with his beloved friend, Patti Ressler.   In 2021, Chuck moved to Madeira to Traditions of Carmago where he loved to play cards and enjoy happy hour with his friends.

Chuck was most proud of his family and especially enjoyed following the pursuits of his six grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Charles and Mary Wise and his brother, Robert Lowell Wise.  Chuck is survived by his two children, Kevin Buckley (Marsha) Wise of Mason, OH and Robin (Chuck) Long of Sellersburg, IN, six grandchildren, Justin Buckley (Ashley) Wise, Lauren Wise, Alex (Moriah) Long, Sarah Long, Olivia Wise and Emma Long, beloved friend, Patti Ressler and mother of his children, Sonja Wise.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9th from 4:00-6:00 pm, with a memorial service at 6:00 pm at Crossroads Church Mason Chapel, 990 Reading Rd, Mason, OH 45040.  An inurnment will take place at the Wise Cemetery in Camden, IN on Thursday, August 10th at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chuck’s name to Crayons to Computers ., 1350 Tennessee Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
