Daniel F Barker, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Provision Living in West Chester.  He was born to the late Frederick and Mathilde (Pistorius) Barker on October 24, 1931, in Wilmette, Illinois.  Daniel was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandfather (boppy) and great boppy.

He grew up sailing and swimming on the shores of Lake Michigan, graduating from New Trier High School, class of 1949.  He then studied History at Colgate University and upon graduation was commissioned in the United States Navy in 1953.  He was trained as a pilot and has 223 carrier landings on the USS Boxer flying the S2F.  Daniel was honorably discharged in 1957 with service patrolling the shores of North Korea and 1,475 flying hours.

After serving his country he earned an MBA from Harvard University, married his wife, Sandra, and they raised their three children together.

His professional accomplishments include a very successful business career of 40 years working for CCA/Jefferson Smurfit Corporation.

Daniel loved to travel all around the world, always with a heart for adventure. He enjoyed snow skiing, scuba diving and above all was a champion sailor competing in local events on Lake Geneva to Mackinaw Island on Lake Michigan.

Daniel is survived by his children Mike (Sally) Barker, Kim (Jake) Ries, Pete Barker; grandchildren Kelsey (Andy) Schneck, Kayla (David) Potter, Ally Ries, Carter Ries, Jon Barker, Liz Barker, Keira Barker; great grandchildren Ava Schneck, William Schneck; Theo Potter, Wesley Potter; brother Bill Barker; nephews Brad Barker, Jeff Riopelle, Rick Riopelle; niece Deb Shaw-Barker and sister-in-law Shirley Riopelle.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra (Dashner) Barker; parents; twin sister Ann Barker; sister Patsy Barker and brother Roddy Barker.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040 on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 2:00pm-3:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 3:00pm.  Inurnment will take place at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Williams Bay, WI at a later date.  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at Muellerfunerals.com
