David Lee Hollon

March 31, 1955 — January 2, 2024

David Lee Hollon, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away January 2, 2024 at the age of 68.  He was born March 31, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio to Shelby and Thoma Jean (nee Roberts) Hollon.

Dave served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era transferring supplies from ship to ship and doing helicopter repair.  He discovered his love of coaching while coaching football and baseball for HHYRA, Wayne High School, and Bethel Middle School. Some of his athletes even made it to the top playing for college and professional teams. Affectionately known as "Coach" by many, Dave co-owned Coach Tool & Die in Dayton, Ohio from 1998 to 2018.  While Dave and Darlene were on their honeymoon, he quickly decided Maui would be their place to retire. They visited nearly every year since then creating memories.

Dave was preceded in death by: parents, Shelby and Thoma Jean Hollon, and daughter, Jeannie Margaret.

Dave is survived by: wife of nearly 25 years, Darlene (nee Lindgren) Hollon; children, Shelby Sue (Brian) Bond, Matthew Kie (Ceana) Hollon, and Cody David (Gabrielle) Hollon; grandchildren, Abigail, Isabelle, and Madison Wilson; Kielee, Marissa, and Trevor Hollon; and Lorelai Hollon; siblings, Candy (Donald) Arndts and Rebecca Hollon.

Following Dave's instructions, his family will have a Celebration of Life Service for those in the Dayton area at Classic Pizza, 7129 Taylorsville Road, Huber Heights, Oh 45424, Saturday, January 13th from 3-5:30 p.m.

For Dave's friends in the West Chester area, Darlene is holding a joyous re-telling of some of the funniest "Dave" stories at their house on Windy Knoll Drive. Bring your best stories and come celebrate his life on Sunday, January 14th from 1-3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to any of the following charities to help the August 8th, 2023 fire victims in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii:
