It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Pastor David L. Kelly, who left us peacefully on January 7, 2025. Born on March 7, 1951, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Ross and Geraldine Kelly, David's life was one of unwavering faith and compassion.

David dedicated his life to serving others, first earning his Bachelor of Education and then pursuing his calling by attending Ohio Valley Bible College. His journey as a pastor began with the launch of Passion and Fire Worship Center on August 8, 1998, followed by the founding of The Church Alive in May 2010, where he led with dedication and love until the end of his days.

On December 31, 1993, he joyfully married Donna Rost, creating a loving partnership that was an inspiration to all who knew them. David’s warmth extended not only to his beloved wife but also to his furry companions—Jasper, Mia, Chloe, Pip, Buddy, and Sweet Pea, who held a special place in his heart.

David is survived by his beloved brothers Ron (Gail) Mitchell and Ken (Sylvia) Mitchell, his sisters-in-law Sharon (Billy) Grifo and Brenda (Mark) Habedank, and a host of adoring nieces and nephews: Kimberly Tilton, Sara Hafron, Samantha Lang, Jason Mitchell, and Brandon Mitchell. He leaves behind great nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends, all of whom felt the impact of his kindness.

An avid sports fan, David held a particular fondness for The Ohio State Football, The Cincinnati Bengals, and Ohio State and UC basketball. His enthusiasm for these teams was a joyful part of his personality. Beyond sports, he cherished the moments spent with church members, family, and friends, often showcasing his competitive spirit while playing Cornhole during family and church picnics.

A visitation to honor Pastor David’s remarkable life will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM, with the service commencing at 12:30 PM. He will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where his memory will shine brightly.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to The Church Alive, continuing Pastor David’s legacy of love and service. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit and teachings will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
