Deborah A Hetzel

November 29, 1950 — April 18, 2023

Deborah Ann Schlinkert Hetzel lost her long, hard fought battle with cancer on April 18, 2023 at 72 years of age. She is greatly missed by her husband Gary Hetzel and her three daughters Bonnie (Steve Middleton), Nancy ( Alex Scearce) and Katie (Alex Masino).  She is survived by her brother Roy Schlinkert (Kristin) and Jeri Tippett (Tom).  She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Roy and Bonnie Schlinkert and her sister Sandra Schmitt.

She found true happiness when she married Gary in 1984. They spent their years together raising their family, traveling, taking care of one another and simply enjoying each others company. She met fantastic people, worked here and there but found her true calling as a professional grandmother. She enjoyed spending the majority of her time with her grandchildren Brayden, Brooke, Mitchell and Henry. They would tell you that she was the funniest person in the world. Family always came first and family vacations turned into epic trips with all of the girls, spouses and grandchildren. She brought "forced family outings" to the second generation with weekend adventures, celebrations or simply hanging out with each other for impromptu big family dinners. She could weave a tale like it was her job and had a quick wit that would keep you on your toes. She entertained people for hours on end with her stories.

In keeping with her wishes, her life will be celebrated privately with her grandchildren in a way befitting their adventures together. We encourage everyone to remember her by having a gin and tonic and telling a tall tale to a complete stranger to brighten their day.

"And when you finally fly away
I'll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell
But whatever road you choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
Forever young, forever young"
Rod Stewart
