Derek Brent Taulbee, 43, of Loveland, passed away Friday February 2, 2024. Born June 24, 1980 in Kettering, Ohio, Derek's journey led him through South Lebanon, Mason, and finally to Loveland in 2021.

Derek is survived by his loving wife Lindsay Taulbee (nee Holthaus), cherished daughters Grace Ann Taulbee and Hazel Elizabeth Taulbee, parents Michael and Jennifer Beckman, father-in-law Jerry Holthaus, siblings Bryan and Andrea (Kinley) Taulbee, Alli and Chad (Lennox and Blakely) Bauer, Tyler Taulbee and sister-in-law Kristen and Ryan (Maisy, Hattie, and Sadie) Moore. He was a proud godfather to Travis Ramey, Rory Croxton, Maisy and Hattie Moore.

Preceded in death by his father James “Butch” Taulbee and mother-in-law Joyce Holthaus, grandparents Grace Waddell, Ben Browning, and James and Veda Taulbee.

Derek graduated from Mason High School in 1999 and pursued higher education at Shawnee State in Portsmouth, Ohio. He began his distinguished career at Silver Spring House at the young age of 14 and achieved remarkable success over the decades. Derek’s prosperity became a conduit for generous contributions to the community, evident through initiatives like the Father Chris Coat Drive, The Pink Ribbon Girls for Breast Cancer awareness, and The Santa Band in support of Shriners Hospital. Derek was an ordained minister and was the officiant to many friends and family members. Known for his warm and welcoming nature, Derek never treated anyone as a stranger and to know him was to love him. When dining at Silver Spring House, customers were made to feel like personal guests in his own home. Derek's ability to create a sense of genuine hospitality enriched the community and further exemplified his commitment to making a positive impact beyond the walls of his successful career.

To be a mother of a son is one of the most important things you can do to change the world. The strong foundation his mother, Jennifer, created helped shape Derek into the man everyone knew and loved. Derek was an exceptional father and devoted husband, dedicating his entire life to the happiness of his family. Every moment of his precious free time was shared with Lindsay, Grace, and Hazel. They were not just a part of his world; they were his whole world. Derek often organized special Daddy Daughter Days, creating cherished memories that are etched forever in their hearts.

His love for adventure led to numerous travels, and Derek found immense joy in exploring destinations including Indian Lake, Lake Cumberland and Florida’s Gulf Coast. These journeys were not just vacations, but opportunities for Derek’s family to bond and create lasting memories together.

A master of the culinary arts, Derek's passion for cooking went beyond a skill – it was a heartfelt expression of love. Whether it was for his family or friends, Derek's kitchen creations had a unique ability to bring people together with lively conversations and an atmosphere of pure joy. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, leaving behind a tapestry of love, laughter, and shared meals that will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
