Captain Donald Wallis Rawlings, Mason, Ohio. Born April 11, 1923 in Columbus, Georgia to Father Thomas Samuel Rawlings and Mother Ilia Selma Rawlings. He moved to Steubenville, Ohio as a child. He was a devoted husband to Lois Rawlings for 47 years.
Don passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the age of 98 years old. He honorably served his country in the US Army Airforce during WWII. He was a proud Mason for 49 years. Don retired from the US Government as an Air Traffic Controller after 35 years. He had a lifelong love of photography which showed in many of his volunteer activities. Don also traveled around the US taking photos. Some of his other hobbies were golf, tennis, wood working and playing bridge.
Don was also a member of the Kiwanis, American Legion, Shriners, the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. He served the Finance Committee at his church. Don's passion for photography led him to volunteer at the National Museum of the USAF Wright Patterson Airforce Base in Dayton, Ohio.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. A Masonic Service will begin at 6:30 PM on Friday with the Funeral Service to follow immediately. The State of Ohio REQUIRES face masks/coverings be worn and social distancing guidelines followed.
