Doris Palsa

June 24, 1940 — February 5, 2022

Doris J. Palsa , 81, of West Chester Ohio, died peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, February 5, 2022 following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 24,1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Peter and Margaret Parks.

Following graduation from John Adams High School Doris married her sweetheart Benedict Palsa. They lived in South Euclid, Ohio together for over five decades while raising their four daughters. She is fondly remembered for her love and affinity for gourmet cooking. All celebrations and holidays were deeply enriched with the traditions of Mom’s spectacularly planned, prepared and served meals. Doris was happiest with a full dinner table of friends and family, sharing life with laughter and unity. Her passion for the culinary arts transcended the kitchen and was further shared with all who met her during her twelve years of employment at William-Sonoma in Beachwood, Ohio.

Doris was a lifelong learner and voracious reader. She loved classical music and frequently attended performances at Blossom Music Center and Severance Hall. She loved birdwatching and kept the birds well fed in her yard on Grantleigh Road. While devoting her life to her family she was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a member of Christ Child Society since 1980, served on their board, and participated in their sewing club which provided Layette gowns for infants in Cleveland area hospitals. She also served as a comfort companion and infant rocker in the NICU of the Cleveland Clinic. As a member of the Terrace Garden Club she established many cherished friendships and was the recipient of many awards.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, Benedict Palsa; sisters Evelyn Reid and Marge Shary; daughters Kim (Tom) Schoeffler, Kelley (Magdy) Rofail, Stacie (Scott) Pennington, and Kristin (Scott) Kennedy; grandchildren Ben, Austin and Kristina Schoeffler, Samantha, Quinn and Zachary Smith, and Nathan and Emma Jasper.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Peter Parks.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 5720 Hamilton-Mason Road, Liberty Township, Ohio on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11am with family receiving visitation at 10:30 am. Interment will follow privately at St. Benedict Mausoleum at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, Ohio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Christ Child Society, 7901 Detroit Avenue, Suite 300, Cleveland, OH 44102.
