Douglas John Nawrocki, 55 of Mason, passed away with his family by his side on October 4, 2023. Born to John Nawrocki and Sandy (nee Logan) Hyer on December 18, 1967, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Doug was the definition of a family man. His wife and children meant the world to him. His family knew they were loved by Doug. He always showed up for his kids and family as he coached baseball for his boys for many years, always took time to attend their events and loved to host family and prepare incredible meals. He was the chef in the family and was passing on his skills to his children.
Doug has been in the restaurant industry since the age of 14. He met his wife and many friends working at TGI Friday’s which always held a special place in his heart. He made his lifelong goal of owning a restaurant come true in 2015 when he and his business partner and friend, L. R. Hunley opened Tela Bar + Kitchen in Wyoming, Ohio. Doug loved the staff and customers of Tela like “phamily”.
Doug loved Cincinnati sports. He always had the Reds game on and was a lifelong Bengal’s fan through the good and the bad. We know he’ll see a Super Bowl win in heaven.
A HUGE music fan, especially the Grateful Dead and Phish. Doug spent many summers when he was young, following the Grateful Dead from city to city. Many of his lifelong friendships grew from a common bond of love for music. Doug was one of the nicest, kindest, loyal people you will ever meet, and you knew this by how many friends he had that loved him.
He was an animal lover. His dog, Hunter, held a special place in his heart. Doug was fun. He played games, he enjoyed relaxing on his back porch or watching football. He will be missed by many.
Preceded by his father, John Nawrocki.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Joy Nawrocki, mother, Sandy Hyer, step mother, Sherry Nawrocki, three children, Logan, Noah and Sarah Nawrocki, siblings, Marie (Steven) Testa, Kristen (Zak Bentley) Nawrocki, Chris (Krystel) Hyer and Jennifer (Bob) Enderle, mother and father-in-law, George and Maxine Thomas, sister and brother in law Jill (Robert) Sullivan, Bill Thomas.
