Duane M. Karr

Duane M. Karr , of Mason, Ohio, was reunited with his wife Friday, January 17, 2020, at the age of 80.  He was born Sunday, April 9, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Irvin C. and Vivian E. (nee Orem) Karr.

Upon graduating from Lafayette Central High School in Fort Wayne, IN, in 1957, Duane studied Actuary Science at Michigan for a year before returning home to finish his Business Degree from International Business College. He met his future bride, Lois, in 1963 and they married before Duane left for his service in the United States Air Force. As his accounting career began to flourish, Duane, Lois, and family moved to the Cincinnati area in 1970. Duane was an active church parishioner with the Lutheran Church where he found some very special friendships. With a love of music and being outdoors, Duane could just sit and enjoy the scenery for hours benefiting from the fresh air.  His artistic ability lead to building model boats and houses as well as wood working. His love of family and friends, his kindness and warmth, will be a cherished memory for all.

Duane was preceded in death by: father, Irvin C. Karr; wife, Lois (nee Grotrian) Karr; brother, James C. Karr; and sister-in-law, Marsha Grotrian.

Duane is survived by: children, Daniel (Jeanette) Karr and Denise Karr; mother, Vivian E. Karr; brother, John C. Karr (Becky); sister-in-law, Eleanor Karr; brothers-in-law, Frederick Grotrian and Anthony Grotrian; many close nieces and nephews, family members, friends, and of course, Duane's favorite "non-dog", Suzie.

Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2020, from 12:30 to 1:00 at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7127 Dutchland Pkwy., Liberty Township, OH 45044.  Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 1:00 with Rev. Joel Morgan and Rev. John Benham officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Alzheimer's Association of Cincinnati.
