Edward Walton Beatty Sr. , 77, of Lincoln Heights, Ohio passed away on March 29, 2022, with his family by his side. Born to George and Phyllis (nee Nance) Beatty on May 18, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Edward attended St. Simon Elementary School and Church his entire life. He was a dedicated member of the church and founded the African Drummer Group at St. Simon. Edward had a love for music of all kinds, he had a passion and talent for drumming and was a member of the Jazz Educators Big Band drumming group for five years. One of his favorite pastimes was attending live concerts.
Edward was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving four years before becoming a plumbing apprentice and enjoying a career as a plumber. Edward worked in both residential and commercial settings and retired from Ford Motor Company.
Edward enjoyed sports, coaching his son when he was young. He enjoyed watching Cincinnati Bengals games on television, attending basketball, baseball, and football games in distant cities accompanied by his son and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, George and Phyllis Beatty, and sister Carolyn Gentry.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary (nee Cox) Beatty, his son, Edward Walton Beatty Jr. (Paula), granddaughter, Maria Mae Beatty, three sisters, Georgianna Ruff, Phyllis (Jeff) Brunson, Arlene Stratton, eight brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, coworkers, and childhood friends that became family.
A Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 10:00 AM at St. Simon of Cyrene Episcopal Church, 810 Matthews Drive, Lincoln Heights, OH 45215.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward’s name to St. Simon of Cyrene Episcopal Church.
