Francis Edward Nimmons, 80, of Union, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023.  He was born on July 24, 1943 to Philomena (Bernardi) Nimmons and Alfred Nimmons in Adams, Massachusetts.  He was loved and cared for by his wife Laurel (Wheeldon) Nimmons for 57 years.  He is survived by his wife and their beloved children, Michael Nimmons of Valparaiso, Indiana and Jacquelyn Carnevale (Greg) of Union, Kentucky and precious grandchildren, Dominic, Mitchell, Alexa Toepfert, Courtney Carnevale, Kaeding and Declan Nimmons.  Fran was predeceased by his parents, brother Michael, and cousin/sister Cathy.

Fran was an outstanding athlete in his youth in football and baseball earning him a tryout with the Milwaukee Braves.

He graduated from Adams Memorial High School in 1961, Brewster Academy of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire in 1963, and Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota in 1967.  He was in law school at the University of South Dakota when Uncle Sam called during the Vietnam War.

Shortly after his military service ended, he began his 37 plus years career at GE in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.  Over the years GE moves were made to Orange Park Florida, Augusta Georgia, Grosse Ile Michigan, Naperville Illinois, and finally to the Cincinnati area in 1986.

Fran loved his many interesting friends and colleagues that he met at work and was quietly proud of his patents earned during those years.

He especially loved world travel, snow skiing, times spent with grandchildren, extended family and friends, and remodeling his homes and those of family.

As his grandson Dominic said, "The man was a force of nature and always knew what to say."

The family expresses sincere thanks to compassionate Dr. Samer Alsidawi, Fran's wonderful nurse Candie, his excellent advocate Claire, and the kind staff at the Cancer Infusion Center at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Visitation will be Monday, October 16, 2023 from 3:00 PM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 4:00 PM at St. Timothy Parish, 10272 US Highway 42, Union, Kentucky 41091.
