Franklin T. "Frank" Rockhold, of Xenia, passed away peacefully Monday, April 26, 2021 in the comfort of his home at the age of 78. He was born Wednesday, December 9, 1942 in Spring Valley, Ohio to Alan H. and Ruth E. (nee Carman) Rockhold.
Growing up in Xenia, Frank's parents ran Brewers Market on Main Street where he was a meat cutter for many years. Frank retired from Greene County after 17 years of serving in building maintenance. Prior to that, he worked at Detroit Tire. Frank had a smile that could light up a room and shared his positive upbeat disposition with all he knew.
Ever wanted to know statistics around the Great Dayton Flood of 1913? What about the F5 category tornado that struck Xenia in 1974? Frank knew every detail and fact surrounding these tragedies and many others. In fact, Frank had a memory for details unlike anyone you have ever met.
With a love of the outdoors, you could bet Frank would have the best garden and berry patch every summer. The zucchini, tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, asparagus, and berries were some of the best you would ever taste. Fishing at Indian Lake always brought a smile to Frank's face but if you knew Frank, there was nothing better in his life than his grandchildren.
Frank will forever be loved and cherished by all those that knew him.
Frank was preceded in death by: parents, Alan H. and Ruth E. Rockhold; children Michael Rockhold and Tammy Rockhold; step-son, Keith Moon; and a brother, Alan R. Rockhold.
Frank is survived by: wife, Cathy J. (nee Lutz) Rockhold; daughter, Barbara Rockhold Klontz; step-sons, Matthew Dakin and Andy (Herchelle) Shipman; grandchildren, Neil Moon, Micaela Moon, Adam Dakin, and Seth Shipman; siblings, Barbara Gifford, Kathy Kitchens, and Herb (Lynn) Rockhold; and many loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Corwin Pentecostal Church, 33 New Burlington Road, Waynesville, Ohio 45068. Funeral Service will be Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Corwin Pentecostal Church. Interment will immediately follow in Miami Cemetery in Corwin.
