Frederick Harry Acree

Frederick Harry Acree, lovingly known as “Harry,” of Loveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully November 9, 2024 at the age of 96. Harry was born October 3, 1928 in Bartow, Florida to Edwin Bruce and Emily Alma (nee McCarthy) Acree.

Harry served honorably in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force. Upon discharge from the service, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Florida, Gainesville and later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Harry remained a lifelong Gators fan, and loved to watch Gators football, baseball, and basketball games with family and friends at home.

Harry began what would become a lifetime career with Procter & Gamble in 1954. His sales career took him from Tallahassee, Florida to Knoxville, Tennessee and eventually corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he retired in 1991 as a manager for sales training and compensation. His colleagues described him as a leader, mentor, coach and friend with unwavering integrity and commitment to the betterment of the company and all he crossed paths with.

In 1959, Harry and Jacqueline (nee Smith) were married in Knoxville, Tennessee. They went on to raise their four children in Cincinnati, where they built a home full of love that was always welcoming to their family and friends. Harry and Jackie loved to host dinner parties and bridge games, and later travelled to places such as wine country, Canada and Europe. Wherever he went, Harry’s kind and endearing personality would draw even strangers to him as he would strike up a conversation to learn more about them. He remained a lifelong learner with an impeccable memory. Harry was also an avid golfer - he even hit a several hole-in-ones while on the golf course - and he looked forward to his weekly poker games with his buddies at O’Bannon Creek Golf Club.

Harry was perhaps one the kindest and most gentle souls you could ever meet. When you talked with Harry, you could feel his genuine interest in learning your story. He will be forever loved and cherished by all who knew him.

Harry was preceded in death by: parents, Bruce and Alma Acree; wife of 59 years, Jacqueline Acree; siblings, Margaret Gonzalez, Ann Phillips, Ed Acree, Dick Acree, Bob Acree, and Bette Ellis; mother-in-law, Juanita Smith; brother-in-law, Micky Smith; and sister-in-law, Jane Gheen.
