George "Mac" Mckean

George Edmund “Mac” McKean, Jr , 74 of Mason, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020. Born to George Edmund Sr and Gail C (nee Donovan) McKean on October 6, 1946 in Arlington, VA.

Mac graduated in 1968 from Virginia Tech University and went on to further his education at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, graduating in 1971. He had been in ministry for over 45 years. Mac lived to minister to people. It was his hobby, his passion and his true calling in life. No matter the age, race or gender, Mac had a calling to be of service to someone.

In his 45 years of ministry, he spent 4 years at Ashland First Presbyterian Church in Ashland, Kentucky and over 25 years with Center Point Presbyterian Church in Center Point, Alabama, just to name a few of the places to which he enjoyed ministering.

Mac spent many hours fishing with family and enjoying the company of his grandchildren; who affectionately called him, Bumpa.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gail McKean.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Libby (Goddu) McKean of Mason, three children, Dean McKean, Gene McKean and Katie (Al) Steverson, two granddaughters, Isabella, and Lilly Steverson, one sister, Robin (Sandy) Batten, cousin, Ed Hands, sister-in-law, Ellie Taylor, nieces and a nephew. And many friends who became family.

A celebration of life service will be held virtually on YouTube at hpcmason , Saturday, December 19th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mac’s name to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PCUSA) PO BOX 643700 Pittsburgh, PA 15264, Firehouse Men’s Shelter 626 2nd Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203 or your local food bank.
