George C. Poedtke

George C. Poedtke, of Mason, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at the age of 82 at West Chester Hospital. He was born Thursday, February 25, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to George F. and Corinne (nee Berger) Poedtke.

George earned his Bachelors in Business Administration from Xavier University in 1958. A family man, George was gifted when it came to painting and enjoyed depicting landscapes. He was also very talented with writing giving each child and grandchild a handwritten poem for the event of birthdays, graduations and weddings. When it was time to relax and have fun, George looked forward to the monthy poker game he hosted each month. Not so long ago, George loved spending time with his friends and family on the links and it would not be uncommon to find George at "The Club" 4 or 5 days a week.

George was preceded in death by: parents, George and Corinne Poedtke; and the love of his life, Jeanne C. (nee Merland) Poedtke.

George is survived by: children, Pam Poedtke-Thomas, Douglas (Gwen) Poedtke, Brian (Caroline) Poedtke and Kelley Poedtke; grandchildren, Austin Thomas, Mara Thomas, Katherine (James) Christophersen, Kristen (Cody) Sparks, Madeline Poedtke, Douglas Poedtke, Alexander Poedtke and Christopher Poedtke; great-granddaughter, Pia Christophersen; sister, Marilynn Krause; and many loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, July 8, 2019 from 9:00 AM until Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9080 Cincinnati Dayton Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069.
