Remembering the Life and Times of

Georgia Mae Butler (Taylor)

July 8, 1947 – March 13, 2025

Georgia Butler Taylor, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025.

Born on July 8, 1947, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Georgia was the cherished daughter of George and Sally Butler. She grew up on her parents’ farm and began working in their general store from a very young age, instilling in her a lifelong sense of responsibility, dedication, and care for others. She spent her formative years in Arkansas before establishing a life rich in love, service, and strength in North Canton, Ohio.

Georgia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. On July 4, 1972, she married the love of her life, Sherman Taylor, and together they shared over 51 wonderful years of marriage, raising two sons who were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sherman Taylor; her parents, George and Sally Butler; and her brothers, Troy Butler and Roy “Len” Butler.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Sherman (Andrew) Taylor II and Sean (Michelle Skrovan) Taylor; her grandchildren, Sherman “Trey” Taylor III and Shinobi “Nathan” Taylor. She is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Throughout her life, Georgia embraced many roles—from working at Goodyear to inspiring young minds in the Canton City Schools. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning a master’s degree in education while working full-time and raising her children—a true testament to her determination and dedication.

Georgia’s passion was always her family. Known for her warmth, selflessness, and unwavering love, she had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel cared for, often putting others before herself. Her legacy is one of kindness, quiet strength, and deep devotion to those she loved.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
