Gerard F. Deehan

October 3, 1957 — September 24, 2023

Gerard Francis (Gerry) Deehan died unexpectedly Sunday, September 24, 2023 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida at the age of 65 after a short illness.

Gerry was a loving husband, devoted son, adored brother, uncle and cousin as well as a faithful friend. “He was such a wonderful person and a true gentleman. He had this amazing gift of making you feel better about yourself when you walked away from him. Truly charismatic in so many ways.” beautifully said by cousin, Elizabeth Tucker Mulvey.

Gerry is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Gerard Deehan and Agnes Margaret (Mairead) Gunn Deehan, sister Eileen Deehan and nephew Joseph Deehan.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Lisa Marie Deehan (nee Wright); sisters Geraldine Deehan  Carrillo and Mairead Deehan; and brothers Thomas (Debe) Deehan and Joseph (Judi) Deehan; nieces Ann Marie Deehan, Leviere Carrillo, Marie Leigh Deehan and Madison Hardin; and nephews Justin Kerr, Caleb Deehan.

Gerry was born in Dublin, Ireland on October 3, 1957 to Joseph Gerard Deehan, a physician and Agnes Margaret (Mairead) Gunn, a homemaker. Gerry crossed the pond at the ripe old age of 6 months as his parents immigrated to the United States settling in Lima, Ohio. The first of 6 children, Gerry was lovingly known in the family as #1. Gerry attended Lima Central Catholic and St. Louis University.

The majority of Gerry’s career was spent in sales. He honed his sales skills going door to door selling Electrolux vacuum cleaners and even had the holes in his shoes to prove it, which he used successfully as part of his sales pitch. He became so good at it that he won a top salesman award and a couple of sales competition trips including Hong Kong and even to Paris on the Concord to which he treated his mom Mairead. After living in Florida for a few years, Gerry took his skills to the home securities industry in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Guardian Inc. where he met the love of his life Lisa. After several years in Pittsburgh, Gerry and Lisa moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where Gerry continued with Guardian as a regional sales manager. Still in Cincinnati, Gerry then moved on to work for Alarm.com as a National Sales Trainer before moving to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in 2016 and retiring in 2020.

Gerry loved life, especially spending time with family and in church activities.  Gerry was also very proud of his Irish heritage going to Ireland for family reunions to visit with his many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Having spent much of his younger years on the golf course or tennis course, Gerry enjoyed watching golf and tennis tournaments on the weekends. Gerry was also a lifelong car aficionado traveling to various car shows especially the Detroit Auto Show and the Auburn Indiana Car Show.  A love of travel took Gerry and Lisa coast to coast and across the pond whether it was to enjoy wine country, skiing or the bright lights of New York City. And not too much can be said about Gerry’s love of football, especially the Cleveland Browns, his beloved ”Brownies”,  which he shared with Lisa unless the Browns were playing the Pittsburgh Steelers when Lisa would proudly put on her black and gold and during which he texted game highs and lows with his brothers Tom and Joe.
