Gertrude F. Omps

Gertrude F. Omps (nee Main), of Mason, Ohio, peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the age of 101.  She was born Tuesday, July 12, 1921 in West Alexander, Pennsylvania to Benjamin and Myrtle (nee Craig) Main.

Just three days following her nineteenth birthday, Gertrude married her best friend, Lloyd W. Omps.  The couple shared their vows in Dutch Fork Christian Church, Claysville, Pennsylvania on July 15, 1940.  Through the years, Gertrude served as a faithful member of West Alexander Christian Church, Winter Haven Christian Church, Christ Church at Mason, and finally the Stone Worship Center.  Gertrude truly enjoyed exercising and participated in chair aerobics until she was 100 years old.  She was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds Baseball and the Purdue Boilermakers Basketball teams.  With an artist's touch, Gertrude enjoyed painting ceramics, leaving treasures for the family.  Gertrude loved to work puzzles and to help keep her mind sharp, she would go through the list of her great-grandchildren every evening.  A true legacy this woman has left for others to cherish.

Gertrude was preceded in death by: husband, Lloyd W. Omps; parents, Benjamin and Myrtle Main; and siblings, Nannie Newman, Ruth Conklin, Lee Main, and Marvin Main.

Gertrude is survived by: son, Lloyd Voyne (Rose) Omps; daughter, Joan (Tom) Maxwell; grandchildren, Cindy (Don) Urbanski, Lisa (Charlie) Weber, Tim (Bernadette) Maxwell, Becky (Sean) McKay, Christy (Sean) Speigel; great-grandchildren, Justin Kwiecien, Makayla Urbanski, Jacob Weber, Lauren Weber, John Thomas Maxwell, Nick Maxwell, Stephen (Ashley) McKay, Samantha McKay, Skylar McKay, Shayla McKay, Caleb Speigel, Isaac Speigel, Aaron Speigel, Joel Speigel, and Kyrell Mutts; special friend, Dick Walthour and many loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, June 19, 2023 from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Service at 11:30 am at the Stone Worship Center at Mason Christian Village, 411 Western Row Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.

Graveside Service will be Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 12:00 noon at West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, Pennsylvania.
