Harold “Gene” McEndree, of Mason, Ohio, passed away peacefully following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the age of 82. He was born Thursday, July 1, 1937 in Steubenville, Ohio to Harold E. and Mabel (nee Gorsuch) McEndree.
Gene was a graduate of Ohio University and sang in the Sigma Nu Quintet. He earned a master’s degree in education from West Virginia University. With hands that could create or fix anything, he was an industrial arts teacher for 35 years. Gene touched the lives of many students at both Mariemont and Sycamore School Districts.
His first love may have been his 1965 red corvette, but the true love of his life was Patricia Bennett. The two were married in Columbus, Ohio in 1966 and together they built a life full of love and laughter. Gene was a devoted father and grandfather and loved attending his grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoyed hunting with his brittany spaniels and playing golf with his family and friends. Gene’s memory will forever live on in those who loved him.
Gene was preceded in death by: parents, Harold E. and Mabel McEndree; and sisters, Mildred Richner and Mary Ellen Lenzi.
Gene is survived by: wife of 53 years, Patty McEndree; daughters, Lisa (Rick) Welage, Lori (Sean) Brennan and Melissa (Aaron) Simonye; grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew & Lindsay Welage, Natalie, Emily & Alec Gruenwald, and Griffin & Jacob Simonye; and many loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Funeral Service will be Monday, November 11, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be directed to Crossroads Hospice or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
