Harriet Louise Schmahl Orkey of Maineville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the age of 93. She was born on Friday, January 6, 1928 in Moline, Illinois to the late Joseph Peshek, Sr. and Pearl (Nee John) Peshek.
Harriet had a love for plants, flowers, home decorating and fashion. When she had the chance to travel, she would always take the opportunity. She was a long time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church as her faith was important to her. Harriet was an employee of Cincinnati Bell, where she retired in 1990.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Peshek, Sr. and Pearl (Nee John) Peshek, husbands Emil Schmahl and Anthony Orkey, siblings, Beverly Peshek, Betty Jeanne Peshek, and Joseph Peshek, Jr., and granddaughter Jaclyn Gandee.
Harriet is survived by her children, Frank (Renee) Schmahl, Emily (Jack) Gandee, and Paul (Debra) Schmahl; grandchildren, Travis Schmahl, Janelle (Derrick) Reiss, Justin (Amber) Gandee, Michael (Michelle) Schmahl and Chris Schmahl; and great-grandchildren, Brian Ruch, Jr., Jack Ruch, Brooke Reiss, Alexander Reiss, Hunter Gandee, Colin Gandee, Emma Gandee and Hailey Gandee and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held by the family, and she will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason, OH.
