Harriet A. Schneider

Harriet Alberta Schneider , age 90, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, one day after her 71st wedding anniversary.

Harriet was born on January 21, 1934, to Harry and Opal (nee Elder) Miller in Mc Kees Rocks, Pennsylvania.

She met her husband Martin at a church youth group outing at Trinity Lutheran, Pittsburgh, when they were teenagers. They married on September 5, 1953. They were blessed with four wonderful children: Martin (Marcia) Schneider, Wayne (Brenda) Schneider, Diane (Brian) Lawhead, and Bryan (Valerie) Schneider. They were blessed with four grandchildren; Tim Schneider, Paul Schneider, Eric Lawhead, and Leann Schneider Webb as well as four great grandchildren; Gared Schneider, Graham Schneider, Rhett Lawhead, and Rowen Lawhead.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Lois Boehmer and Louise Nordsiek and two brothers Dorcas and Robert who both died in infancy.

Harriet and Martin started their lives as a family in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, then moved for work to Parkersburg, West Virginia; Chicago Heights, Illinois; Park Forrest, Illinois, and Stow, Ohio.

After Harriet and Martin retired, they moved to Seneca, South Carolia and enjoyed their house on the lake. They loved the summers when friends and family would join them at their home and enjoyed riding on the pontoon boat and water skiing.  Harriet and Martin moved to Otterbein retirement community in Lebanon, OH and then moved to Cedar Village in Mason, OH in June 2024.

Harriet had a deep faith, everywhere they moved she would find a Lutheran Church and become a devout member of the congregation. She was the president of the woman’s group at her church in Stow, Ohio. She then became a member of University Lutheran Church in Clemson, South Carolina.

Harriet enjoyed cross stitch, art and reading.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 26th at 1:00 PM, followed by a reception, at the Mueller Funeral Home (6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH 45040).
