Helen Petersen

Helen M. Petersen, of West Chester, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family holding her hand on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the age of 74. She was born Sunday, September 8, 1946, in Ingolstadt, Germany to Boleslaw and Janina (nee Dzwonek) Grocholski. Helen immigrated to the US when she was little and lived most of her life in Helmetta, New Jersey before moving to Ohio in the early 90’s.

Helen touched many hearts over the years creating smiles that will last a lifetime. She loved nothing better than spending time with her grandkids, she would talk about them every chance she got and enjoyed being in their presence. The best hostess for holidays and events; especially Christmas Eve, Helen loved to cook enough to feed an army all while planning the next get together.

Helen had quite a collection of Lenox, perfumes, and of course, her jewelry, but she found more enjoyment in buying for her family and friends. She was a true bargain and good deal shopper. Helen treasured making others smile. Her love of animals was like non-other, and she consistently donated to any and all rescues.

Helen's story would not be complete without mentioning her beloved bingo. If she was really feeling it, Helen would head on out to the casino. We imagine Heaven is filled with scratch-off's and pull-off's just for Helen., where she faithfully played the lottery using her friends and family’s birthdates to pick out her numbers.

Helen was preceded in death by: parents, Boleslaw Grocholski and Janina Grocholski; brother George Grocholski and numerous pets that she was looking forward to reuniting with in heaven.

Helen is survived by: husband, Franklin V. Petersen; daughter, Dana (Mitch) Ferguson; grandchildren, Carissa and Mitchell Ferguson; sister, Janet (Craig) Maltese; several nieces and nephews; and many friends including Cheryl (Don) Belfort, Kim (Dan) Martin, and Jackie Bunting.

Visitation will be Monday, August 30, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. A Prayer Service will immediately follow at 6:00 pm.
