James Richard DeVore, 87 of Mason, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27, 2021, with his family by his side. Born to Ethelbert and Mary Willie (nee Souder) DeVore on May 12, 1934, in St Bernard, Ohio.
James worked and retired from General Electric as a Welding Specialist after 42 years of dedication and service. He was an active member of the Hamilton Elks and a parishioner at St Susanna Church in Mason.
James's passion was golf. He collected hats and magazines and anything that reminded him of golf. He not only enjoyed playing but enjoyed watching the master's on TV. Besides golfing James also loved to fish. The quiet water and a his brother, Frank & grandchildren by his side made fishing and even better experience for him.
James was athletic and sports were always a big part of his life. Even in his later years he played basketball with friends and was on a softball league with GE. James and his brother enjoyed spending time together going out to eat and to the casino.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ethelbert and Mary Willie DeVore, his wife, Mary Elizabeth Devore, four siblings, Kenneth and Charles DeVore, Dorothy Faulk and Dolores Amyx Layne and two nephews, Gary Amyx and Troy Faulk.
James is survived by his four children, Dianne (Steven) Hanson, Daniel DeVore, Cynthia DeVore and Jamie (Brian) Schwartz, six grandchildren, Eric Hanson, Erin Colaco (Ben), Steven Scott Hanson (Sarah), Rhiannon Kreutz (William, III), Evan Schwartz (Taylor), and Seth Schwartz; four great-grandchildren, Kendall Hanson, Kelsey Hanson, and William Kreutz IV, and Berkeley Schwartz, one brother, Franklin DeVore and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1st from 6:00-8:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 2nd at 10:00 AM at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Interment will immediately follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
