James Joseph McKiernan, age 77, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on February 11, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1947, to the late James Francis and Mary Elanor (Russell) McKiernan in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. A proud Vietnam Veteran, Jim honorably served in the United States Navy, where he received numerous commendations for his service, including the Purple Heart for his bravery during combat on July 31, 1968, as well as the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat. His dedication and sacrifice for his country were a source of pride for his family and friends. Jim was actively involved in his community and loved being a part of the East Gate Corvette Club. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Cincinnati Reds and the Bengals, reflecting his passion for sports. Additionally, he was a valued supporter of Victory Riding Academy. He is survived by his children JoDee (Tony) Barnes and Ali (Brent) Taylor; granddaughter Sascha Scheider; brothers Tom McKiernan, John McKiernan and his nephew, Christopher McKiernan. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial gathering will be held at Mueller Funeral Home, located at 6791 Tylersville Rd, Mason, Ohio 45040, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
