James Richard Shaul, Jr., 89, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Thursday December 26, 2024. He was born on January 12, 1935, in Terre Haute, Indiana to James and Mary Shaul.
Jim grew up in Norwood and graduated from Purcell High School at the age of 16. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956. After his service he worked for the Cincinnati Bell Telephone company and graduated with a degree in engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He retired from Cincinnati Bell after 37 years of service.
Jim was a social person, enjoying time boating on the Ohio River, playing golf, and in later years playing cards, chair volleyball, and happy hour at Seasons in Kenwood. He was also a life member of the Reading Terraqua Club.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Shaul, as well as his parents and brother Robert (“Bob”).
He is survived by his sister, Pat Jaeger of Seattle, sister-in-law Carol Shaul (Bob) of Jackson, TN and 6 children, Deb (Jim) Donovan, Chuck (Mike) Shaul, Stephen (Maureen) Shaul, Trina (Jack) Williams, Jeff (Jennifer) Shaul, and Adrienne (Joel) Butch, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held for Jim at a later date, when it’s warmer outside and we can truly celebrate Jim with a Manhattan, some cards and fun with family and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that Memorial Donations in Jim’s honor be directed to the charity of your choice.
