Janet Vance

March 14, 1942 — November 28, 2024

Janet Marie Vance, aged 82, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. Janet passed away from Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 14, 1942, to Richard and Mary Flynn (nee Hanrahan), Janet was a remarkable individual whose life journey reflected her unwavering dedication to her family and profession. After graduating from the Mercy School of Nursing in 1962, she devoted several years to caring for patients at a local doctor’s office before finding her calling as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital. Janet retired in 2006, having made a profound impact in her role at Good Sam, where she not only nurtured new lives but also mentored countless colleagues.

On November 21, 1964, Janet married the love of her life, John Vance. Together, they built a beautiful family, which includes their loving children: Colleen (James) McCollum, John G. Vance, and Scott (Amy) Vance. Janet took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Ann Marie, Amanda, Jonathan, Griffin, Tanner, Cooper, and William, and her devotion to them was evident in every aspect of her life.

Janet is also survived by her siblings Richard (Gail) Flynn, Patricia (Paul) McCarthy, Terry (Alesia) Flynn, and Daniel (Mary Ann) Flynn; as well as her sister-in-law Sandra (Phillip) Yaple and brother-in-law Len (Carol) Stallo. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

In addition to her many accomplishments, Janet was a dedicated member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church for over 20 years. She found joy in reading, sewing, and crocheting, but perhaps her greatest joy came from the moments spent with her grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Jonathan Grayson Vance, and her sister, Nancy Stallo.

Janet and her family and friends would like to extend a deep appreciation for the love and respect she received from the nurses and staff at Optimized Senior Living in Lebanon and Hospice 360.
