Jeanne Marie Jacobsen passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, at the age of 88 at her home at Twin Lakes in Montgomery, OH. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 6, 1936, to Thomas and Jennie Kovalak (nee Fedurek), both deceased. She graduated from Lakewood High School, attended Indiana University, and received her BA in English from Western Reserve University in 1959. She taught drama in grade school and later owned and operated two gourmet kitchenware stores: What’s Cookin’ in Wyoming, OH, and Cookworks at Convention Place Mall in downtown Cincinnati. She also was a realtor for several years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the U.S. and Canada and abroad to France, England, Belgium, Switzerland, China, Singapore, and Japan.
Her hobby of oil painting began in 1990 when she was in her home at 506 Hickory Hill Lane in Wyoming, OH, and continued until two weeks before her passing. Jeanne was a loving Grandmother who found joy along with Granddad sharing their love of the arts with their grandchildren. From the moment the grandchildren were born Jeanne would point out the beauty in their surroundings whether it was the colorful leaves from the fall foliage or the sun setting on the beach. Jeanne loved to take her children and grandchildren to experience the arts by seeing a local play, a Broadway show in New York City or Chicago, or an art exhibit. Everyone in the family has a clear appreciation for the arts because of this. Jeanne’s legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren as they continue to create, perform, and appreciate the arts.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald L. Jacobsen, of 43 years, daughters Jeannette Pomeroy (Steve Bray), Jane Lance (Keith), Jacqueline Kramig (Tom), step-sons Ronald Jacobsen Jr., (Jackie), Rob Jacobsen (Kirsten), step-daughter Beth Jacobsen, and10 grandchildren: Allison and Emma Parssi, Sara, and Taylor Lance, Madison and Samantha Kramig, Reed and Jack Jacobsen, Ethan, and Lindsay Jacobsen, and by her brother, Robert Kovalak (Carolyn), a niece Kathy Rubsum (David), their three daughters, nephew David Kovalak, deceased (Kristi) their two sons, a brother-in-law, Ken Jacobsen (Carolyn), their two daughters Amy and Jill (Steve Kokinda), their two sons, and her ex-husband, Jacques Pomeroy.
