Jeanne Schaefers Roof , age 88, passed away the morning of September 3, 2024 in West Chester, Ohio. She was born to the late Stanley and Esther (Kein) Schaefers on May 10, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Jeanne was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of over 60 years, Jerome Clyde Roof and her siblings Barbara and Richard Sucietto, Jack and Sue Schaefers. She is survived by her sister and brother in law Mary Lou and Paul Armbruster.  She grew up on the west side of Cincinnati. Her Catholic faith played such a big part of her life. Jeanne went to St Martin's Elementary School, Mother of Mercy High and Mount Saint Joseph for college. Jeanne was an elementary school teacher in Cleves, Ohio when she married Jerry Roof then later moved to Louisville, Ky where they had 5 children.

She has left a lasting legacy filled with love, smiles, compassion, kindness and not to forget, her fierce competitiveness.  Jeanne was a competitive athlete. As a child she played all sports: softball, volleyball, and basketball to name a few. As an adult her two favorite sports were were golf, tennis, and she loved cards and basically any game you wanted to play, count Jeanne in!   With her "Irish Luck", she usually won, and she ALWAYS did it with a smile on her face.  Jeanne and Jerry lived in many different parts of the country through his work. With Jerry's promotion they moved to San Diego, CA she won the Ladies Club Champion multiple times and loved traveling up and down the coast of California playing with her ladies golf team.  But her favorite thing to do was be with her husband and family. Jeanne was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother (Gramma Great) and as we all witnessed she just refused to ever have a bad day.

She is survived by her children: Steven Clyde and Deborah (Powell) Roof, Theresa and Douglas Cahill, Robert Stanley and Diana (Brockschmidt) Roof, Michael Jerome and Dorian (Smith) Roof, Elizabeth and Thomas Sprockett; her grands: Ben and Senyace (Martinez) Roof, Heidi and Jordan Cafaro, Chris, Chelsea (Pasfield) Cahill, Paige Yastrzemski, Mike Yastrzemski, Jack Cahill, Maddie Cahill, Maria Roof, Katie Roof, Chris Roof, Sarah Roof, Megan Peterson, Adam Peterson, Spencer Roof, Grace Obsitnik, Michael Obsitnik, Sam Sprockett, and Michael Sprockett; her great grands: Hunter Jenkins, Noah Garrett, Penelope Garret, Briella Roof, Charlotte Roof, Olivia Roof, Madelyn Cafaro, Ellie Rae Cafaro, Travis Cahill, Baby Cahill, Quinley Yastrzemski, Henry Peterson, baby boy Peterson and Kai Yastrzemski .

A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 5720 Hamilton Mason Rd, Liberty Township, OH 45011 on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 11:00am.  Burial of the cremated remains will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery at a later date.

A lunch reception will follow at Terre and Doug Cahill's home:  4464 Raynor Ct., Mason OH following mass.
