Jeff Reese, age 56, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 30, 2019, surrounded by song, prayers, and love after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer.
Born March 6, 1963 in Oxford, Ohio, Jeff graduated Summa Cum Laude from NC State University in 1985 with degrees in Pulp and Paper Technology and Chemical Engineering. His dedication and generosity made a difference for countless friends and colleagues-whether through his career, where he was committed to doing the right thing at paper mills around the world; or through his volunteer work, where he served as a mentor to hundreds of young people and, by sharing his passion, empowered the next generation of engineers to find theirs. As a member of the industry association TAPPI, Jeff exemplified service leadership and received many of the organization's highest honors.
Yet Jeff's greatest passion was sharing life with his children, teaching them by example through his unconditional love, faith, puns, encouragement, and wisdom.
A natural communicator, Jeff penned the Reese family's humorous annual Christmas letter and delighted in collecting and sharing inspiring quotations. With positivity and grace, Jeff daily modeled one of his favorites: "This is the day the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad."
Jeff is survived by his loving family: wife Su (nee Thompson) Reese; children Diana (Isaac) Paiva, Jonathan Reese, and Joanna Reese; parents Dick and Diane Reese; brother David (Aimee) Reese; sister Sue Reese; sister-in-law Anna Burns; brother-in-law John (Nicole) Thompson; nieces and nephews Anthony Burns, Kenny (Katie) Burns, Hillary Thompson, Maddox Thompson, Luke Reese, Ruby Reese, and Hodges Reese; many other fond family members; and an abundance of friends, colleagues, and others whose lives he impacted.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio, 45040. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mueller Funeral Home with Pastor Shayne Walters officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
