Jerry Agin, age 90, of Mason, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at West Chester Hospital. He was born Friday, June 1, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Lambert and Emma (nee Stadermann) Agin.
A Veteran of the United States Army, Jerry received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1951. His career in the Foundry Industry began in 1969 with the Hill & Griffith Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. By 1976, Jerry had been promoted to the posititon of Vice President and Sales Manager.
Jerry was blessed with many opportunities during his career. A member of American Foundrymen's Society since 1969, he was active in the Southwestern Ohio AFS Chapter serving as chairman from 1974-1975 and a Director since 1971. Chairman of two Regional and the National AFS Conferences, Jerry helped change the Ohio Regional to the Mid-West Regional in 1983. Jerry was named Foundryman of the year in 1981-1982 by the Southwestern Ohio AFS Chapter.
Involvement with AFS at the National level allowed Jerry to serve as National AFS Director Class of 1986 and National AFS Chairman/President 1990-1991. Jerry was also served on the Cast Metals Institute as a director. As a member of the Ductile Iron Society since 1982, he was on the Board of Directors from 1987 to 1990.
Most recently, Jerry served on the Board of Advisors for Material, Science and Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. As Liaison for the CISA Board of Directors, Jerry had previously served as Chairman of the Consumable Group of Casting Industry Supply Association was was President 1989-1990. Jerry was awarded the Casting Industry Suppliers Association "President's Trophy" in 1992 and was the recipient of the AFS William H. McFadden Gold Metal of Merit in 1997.
In addition to his professional successes, Jerry enjoyed life and lived to the fullest everyday. He married the love of his life, Beverly J. Kaemmerle, and together they raised three sons, welcomed three daughters-in-law and delighted in the birth of their 6 grandchildren. Jerry was affectionately known as "Papa" to his grandchildren.
As an avid outdoorsman, Jerry enjoyed golf and was a long-time member of Beckett Ridge Country Club. He liked raising flowers and growing vegetables in the gardens. His well thought-out landscaping allowed for the many birdhouses he had. Jerry was also known for breeding and running beagles.
Jerry was preceded in death by: parents, Lambert and Emma Agin; brother, Lambert Agin; and brother-in-law, Jerome Haass.
Jerry is survived by: his loving wife, Beverly J. Agin; sons, Steven (Sylvia) Agin, Douglas (Kathy) Agin and Christopher (Kim) Agin; grandchildren, Jaden & Ellie Agin, Austin & Kylie Agin and Haley & Ashlynn Agin; sisters, Helen Haass and Bonnie (Gary) Carothers; sister-in-law, Louise Agin; and many loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, April 29, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Ascension Lutheran Church, 7333 Pfeiffer Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242. The Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 Noon. Entombment with Military Honors will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery following the funeral service. The family invites you to join them with a reception at the Heritage Club, 6690 Heritage Club Dr, Mason, OH 45040.
