Joan Stubbers Gerding, born on November 30, 1929, in Cincinnati, departed this life peacefully on February 21, 2025, in West Chester, surrounded by the love of her four cherished daughters.
At the remarkable age of 95, Joan lived a life brimming with faith and warmth. Her gentle smile was a beacon of her remarkable spirit, reflecting the joy she derived from her family, who were always her greatest pride.
She is lovingly remembered as the devoted wife of William (Bill) Gerding, who preceded her in death after sharing 64 beautiful years together. Joan is also reunited in spirit with her dear mother, Elsie Stubbers, and beloved brother, Neil Stubbers.
Joan's legacy lives on through her loving daughters—Susan (Sid), Mary Beth (Dave), Jenny (Garrett), and Ann (John). She took great delight in her grandchildren: Christine (Brandon), Rachel, Jake (Liz), William, Katherine (Sutton), Jessica, Steven, Thomas, Sarah, and Paul, as well as her great grandsons, Tate and Teddy.
A proud graduate of St. Ursula Academy, Joan cherished her twelve years at the school, where she forged lifelong connections. She often expressed gratitude for the loving community that enveloped her there.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers of Traditions of West Chester and the dedicated staff of Queen City Hospice. Special appreciation goes to Warren Smith, who brought the comfort of faith to Joan every Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ursula Academy Scholarship Fund or the esteemed St. Jude Hospital.
Joan's light will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed but celebrated in every joyful memory we hold.
