Joann Erftenbeck

July 21, 1934 — April 4, 2023

JoAnn (nee Wood) Erftenbeck, 88 of Mason, passed away on April 4, 2023. Born to Raymond and Mildred (nee Mills) Wood on July 21, 1934 in Norwood, Ohio.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerhard “Gary” Erftenbeck, son, Kenneth Erftenbeck, and sister Patricia Obermeyer.

JoAnn is survived by her children, Cindy (Tim) Anderson, Sue Burns (Doak, fiancé), Peggy (Jim) Theiss, Tom Erftenbeck and Paul Erftenbeck, sixteen grandchildren (Mike, Nick, Kyle, Katie, Paul, Kevin, Matt, Ryan, Caleb, Sarah, Emily, Gabrielle, Becca, Allison, Jonathan, and Anna) and sixteen great grandchildren, and two sisters, Kathleen (Roy) Josephson and Deborah Kincannon.

Family and faith meant the world to JoAnn. Time with her children and grandchildren she held close to her heart. Time together camping, vacationing on Longboat Key, and playing cards were all very special times together.

JoAnn was a pillar of strength for her family and friends.  She was a prayer warrior and a woman of faith, she spoke her mind, and she cherished the time spent with family and lifelong friends.  She was an amazing wife, sister, mother and grandmother.

JoAnn was a dedicated member of St John the Evangelist Church in West Chester where her faith was paramount to her, Gary and their children. Active in parish council, CYO, and other activities including festivals, bingo, and sporting events for their children. She also contributed her time supporting civic duties including working at voting poles.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13 th from 9:30-11:00 with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00am all at St John the Evangelist Church, 9080 Cincinnati Dayton Rd, West Chester Township, OH 45069. Interment to follow in West Chester Cemetery.  All are welcome to join family and friends at the church pavilion following for a luncheon.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in JoAnn's name to the St. Jude Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House.
