JOHN DAYMUT LIVESTREAM SERVICE

On February 22nd, 2024 John Richard Daymut (also known as Ricky) was received into the loving arms of Christ and many family members, who proceeded his eternal birth. John was surrounded by family and friends until his heavenly journey home was complete.

John attended Saint Charles Borromeo School and Padua High School. He has been a proud member of Saint Charles Parish his whole life, and belongs to Saint Barbara Catholic Church in Erlanger, KY.  He became an on-the-job trainee Respiratory Therapist at St. John’s Hospital in Cleveland, Respiratory Therapist at Robinson Memorial Hospital while he attended Kent State University, and then received his final Respiratory Care training at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. Upon completing his education, he relocated to Cincinnati and joined The Christ Hospital Respiratory Care Department, years later joined Mercy Health in Cincinnati. John loved working in faith-based health care. A proud Registered Respiratory Therapist with 42 years of service, including during the CoVid-19 pandemic. He held a bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, which helped him uniquely connect with many patients receiving his compassionate and expert care. He was also loved by a wide array of respiratory care professionals, nurses, and numerous other health care colleagues. John was a licensed massage therapist who provided hundreds of massages to family, friends, and clients.

He was a great neighbor, took tremendous pride in his home and helping family and friends with household projects. John enjoyed relaxing at home on the backyard deck, listening to smooth jazz, or watching classic TV comedies. John enjoyed traveling and has been to many parts of the US, Australia, Europe, and several cruises. He held a special place in his heart for visiting family at the lake or on the plains of North Dakota.

In January 2022 John was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Brain Tumor (GBM). John courageously stood up to this awful diagnosis for nearly two years and continued to enjoy a good quality of life. He was so proud to participate and help advance research on GBM by being the second patient in the USA to receive CAR-T cell therapy. Unfortunately, GBM started to win out in January 2024 and John enjoyed his final days mostly at home, with family and friends. John was never alone, and we are so grateful to the community of supporters who sustained him on his journey.

Next to John’s strong Catholic faith in Christ, his family was the center of his world. This focus on faith and family was the foundation for John and Ron’s relationship of 37 years (married in 2015) and is what sustained them through daily joys and difficulties.

Preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mary Daymut, his brother Steve (Gloria) Daymut and his father in law, Richard Rohlfing.

John is survived by his beloved husband, Ronald Rohlfing, sister, Sandra (Dan) Frederick, sisters-in-laws, Kathy (Pat) Rohlfing-Delorme, Karan (Jim) Gilday, mother in law, Marilyn Rohlfing, seven nieces and nephews: Nancy Sedlacek, Sherry (Joe) Golla, Steve (Kendra) Daymut, Karen (Jeff) Heimerman, Dan (Jamie) Frederick, Brain (April) Frederick, and Cassandra Rohlfing-Delorme; fifteen great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece. There are many close cousins, neighbors, clients, and friends who have been important and maintained lasting relationships in his life. John had the unique opportunity to visit with many listed above in the past two months to express how much he loved them.
